What should I bring to class?

Most importantly bring your enthusiasm to class. Additionally bring plenty of water and dress in comfortable and light workout clothes and ladies a good sports bra is a must!

What kind of shoes should I wear?

Don't show up with your high heel dancing shoes! Instead wear comfortable sneakers. The definition of comfortable is different for each person - some might need more arch support than others for example. Keep in mind that in Zumba there are lots os lateral movements and pivoting/turning so a sneaker that allows you to "slide" a little might be better than one that will stop you in your tracks (If you are going shoe shopping, look for a pivot circle at the bottom of the shoe).

I don't know how to dance, will I still be able to take a Zumba class?

Absolutely YES!  You do not need to know how to dance.  The moves are simple and easy to pick up, especially if you keep coming to class.

What is the age group of the Zumba class?

Any age group should take Zumba.  Remember that it is YOUR class and you move as fast or as slow as you feel is right for you.

How many calories can I burn during a one hour Zumba class?

That is totally up to you.  The more you "shake it" the more calories you will loose and sculpt your body.  Generally you can burn between 500 and 800 calories an hour

Cut Fat - Avoid the obvious such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats (i.e. pork, bacon, ham, salami, ribs and sausage). Dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream should be eaten in low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts. Most are available in lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise. Thought for the day: Lean, mean, fat-burning machine…. Then be one!
